Veterinarian and Owner
Dr. Collyer is a German-American veterinarian with extensive experience in companion animal medicine. She attended the Free University of Berlin, Germany, and the University of Glasgow, Scotland, and earned her DVM in 1999 with externships in New Zealand and Scotland. After graduation Dr. Collyer started practicing veterinary medicine in a mixed animal practice in Scotland, and a few years later accepted a position at the University of Berne, Switzerland, to pursue her PhD in equine medicine. After completing her dissertation and working in Alsace, France and Switzerland with large and small animals, Dr. Collyer moved to the US in 2004. Since then, she has been working at an equine referral center, at universities, and at small animal practices in and around Pittsburgh. Dr Collyer acquired Keystone Veterinary Services in January 2023.
Dr. Collyer is continuously pursuing education to expand her toolbox. Dr. Collyer is Fear Free certified, and earned her certification in small animal and equine acupuncture (CVA) and advanced acupuncture through the CHI University in Reddick, FL, a global leader in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM). Postgraduate training in integrative palliative care, hospice and end of life care with CHI University further supported Dr. Collyer's passion to care especially for older pets with chronic health problems. Dr. Collyer is certified in small animal and equine veterinary spinal manipulative therapy through the Veterinary Chiropractic Learning Center in Ontario, Canada, which is accredited by the AVCA (VSMT, American Veterinary Chiropractic Association). Dr. Collyer further graduated from CHI University as a certified canine rehabilitation veterinarian, providing well-rounded care and support for pets after surgery, for geriatric pets, sport dogs, and dogs with chronic health conditions.
Dr. Collyer delivers integrative care and uses a combination of medical approaches to provide the best care, quality of life and happiness for her patients.
Dr. Collyer and her family share their life with Maestro (American Foxhound), Bowie (Paws across Pittsburgh alumna), Friesian Sport Horses and Thoroughbreds on their farm in Shelocta.
Office Manager
Nickie has worked at Keystone Vet Services for 20 years. During those years she has performed many jobs and has been able to help in all aspects of KVS. One of the things Nickie enjoys most about her job is the great relationships and friendships she has been able to establish with the pets and their owners. Nickie and her family have 2 dogs, Knox the Saint Bernard and Gibby the Dachshund. When Nickie is not at work she is active in many booster organizations at her son's school. She enjoys watching sports especially, her son playing basketball and football. You can find her on any given day cheering on the University of Tennessee, Go Vols!!!
Reception
Sue has been working at KVS for over 17 years. She has her own menagerie of cats at home, but also a dog, Albert (Bertie) the Boston Terrier. When she is not making sure that everybody gets an appointment when needed, Sue can be found in the Cat Café and the Sit and Stay Café in Indiana, connecting with friends and animal lovers.
Reception
Karen has worked at Keystone Vet Services for approximately four years. Karen enjoys all aspects of her job at KVS, both clients and their pets. Karen and her husband have a very spoiled Pitbull Terrier, Molly. In her free time Karen enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Also she enjoys cheering for her grandchildren in their activities.
Lead Technician, Licensed Veterinary Technician
Katie is a licensed veterinary technician who joined the Keystone Veterinary Services team in April of 2023. Katie graduated from IMBC in Erie in 2021 with a degree in Veterinary Technology. Katie's favorite part of veterinary medicine is the challenge of helping animals who can't tell us what is wrong with them. She currently resides in Marion Center with her husband Jaron, their three cats, Blackjack, Colbyjack, and Pepperjack and their Golden Retriever, Waylon. In her free time Katie enjoys reading and hiking.
Veterinary Assistant
Haylee is a student at Penn State and is aspiring to become a veterinarian. She likes to improve the quality of life for all animals, and enjoys to see get patients better. In her spare time, Haylee enjoys spending time with friends, family and her three dogs Dee, Paige and Bo.
Boarding Kennel Assistant
Jen has been working at KVS for many years and is responsible for keeping our boarding dogs clean, fed, watered, and exercised. Jen enjoys entertaining our guests to give them plenty of one-on-one time when they are away from home.
Housekeeping
Diane joined the team in 2023, she has been coming to the practice for many years with her dog Sammy. She keeps our hospital in top notch sanitary condition, and saves our window orchids and other plants from a slow demise.
